I am an American who moved to Colombia to find peace after the devastating loss of my daughter. I bought and renovated a Villa, am learning Spanish, and writing as catharsis. This blog will be like a book with chapters. Each blog will be about my life in Colombia and my adventures. I hope you will enjoy the many new discoveries I am making every day about myself and another culture.

    1. Colombia does not have a lot of English speakers like other world countries. However, I have found many people who do speak some English. I moved to Colombia without speaking Spanish. I have lived here almost 6 years and am able to converse very well now. Am I perfect? NO. Emphatic no, am I understood, YES. It is easy to live here if you live in a city without speaking Spanish. If you need help with obtaining health insurance, your Visa and other important matters you will need an interpreter. Not a problem for that though, just go to a local language institute for a translator.

  1. Loved the pictures and the notes. Was especially fond of the little boy and the clarity of the water and the home covered with gorgeous vines & the two dancers! Gr8 shots! Visiting Villa Miglleta is on my bucket list! Thank you for reminding us all it is possible to find beauty even in the darkest moments of life!
    Blessings to you.
